Student Progress and Development Manager

Full Time

Reporting to the Director of Sport, Health and Wellbeing this is an opportunity for a high performing, ambitious, highly skilled and experienced individual to join our College. We want all of our students to feel the College is one of the best places to study in the country.

Through working closely with the Director you will be responsible for the delivery of student progress and development function, along with responsibility for student progress, retention and achievement within the Faculty of Sport, Health and Wellbeing.

You will need to ensure teams actively contribute to the achievement of strategic objectives in particular the delivery of an outstanding student experience in line with the Colleges goals and ethos of ‘Student First’.

Most importantly you will be able to build highly effective, positive and professional working relationships with colleagues across the College in order to champion enhancements to the quality of students’ progress, development and achievement. You need to demonstrate a flexible mind-set when seeking to develop and deliver creative and innovative solutions, relevant to academic students and that meet anticipated student needs. Sunderland College is a Further and Higher Education College based in the City of Sunderland; and one of the largest Colleges in the North-East region. It is a multi- College estate with 4 College campuses. Annually the College delivers education and training to c12,500 students ranging in age from 14-16, 16-18, and 19 years and above. Delivery spans all education routes including GCSEs and A levels, professional and technical education, apprenticeships, higher education and international. The Faculty is currently self assessed as ‘outstanding’ and comprises a curriculum portfolio of Sport, Public Services, Health and Social Care, Childcare, Foundation Learning, Employability and Community. Over the last 2 years the College has been scrutinised as part of the Governments national review of post 16 education, and also by the British Council, the Quality Assurance Agency and OFSTED. In each instance it has achieved impressive outcomes. The last OFSTED inspection report in June 2016 describes the College’s leadership as strong, evident in; “Excellent communications and a highly visible leadership team [that] underpin collaborative working across the College”; “A culture of high expectation”; and “A highly inclusive culture”. The College also competes nationally and regionally and has recently achieved Continuing Excellence for the Better Health at Work Award. ICT Officer

We are looking for a customer focused ICT Officer who is passionate about people and technology, with a dedication to continuous improvement and excellence.

Primarily based at our City Campus in the centre of Sunderland, with prospects of working across the region, your focus will be providing 1st line support and guidance to our staff, learners and visitors.

You will be experienced in providing support and troubleshooting in a Microsoft Windows environment (in particular Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 2016) and have strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. As part of a team on the front line, your responsibilities will include maintaining the College’s large IT estate, including PCs, Laptops, Macs, Projectors and associated equipment. You will be responsible for responding to and updating incidents within agreed SLAs using our incident management system, including timely escalation of incidents to 2nd/3rd Line where appropriate.

Ideally with a background in IT support or a related discipline and educated to “A”-Level standard or above with strong English and Maths qualifications, this role will provide you with the opportunity to support leading edge technology and progress your technical skills and knowledge in a fast paced, varied and evolving environment.

An opportunity has arisen for a passionate, professional to teach on our thriving NextGen Games, Animation & VFX course.

We are seeking to further strengthen our team with a highly creative and enthusiastic individual who specializes in 3D Art (Maya), Animation or VFX with the skills required to assist in ensuring our learners are industry ready with the right skills and knowledge for the workplace.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding practitioner in their field. 3D specialists will have relevant vocational competence in using Autodesk Maya to produce 3D Art for Games, Animation or VFX. Animation specialists will be fluent in Keyframe animation within Autodesk Maya and other software packages such as Spine. VFX specialists’ will be experienced in industry standard compositing packages such as Adobe AfterEffects and Nuke, knowledge of Adobe Premiere is advantageous. The successful applicant will possess the ability to deliver high quality classes, with high expectations, that enthuse and inspire learners to achieve the best possible outcomes and best prepare learners for a career in the Games, Animation or VFX industries.

This post offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work in our state of the art ‘Arts Academy’, at the Bede Campus, and at Hartlepool Sixth Form College, within our specialist NextGen studios, and be a part of a successful team, supporting outstanding achievement across our Digital provision.

Applicants will have industry experience, preferably in a studio environment, and could be new to teaching or have a proven track record in education. Applicants must be willing to achieve a teaching qualification within two years, if not already held.

Now that we are located in our new City Campus, we have grown our commercial offering to include a more rounded experience for students and customers We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Trainer/Asessor - Restaurant Manager to work within the existing Catering and Hospitality Team. The job will involve working predominantly in our City Campus restaurant, City Bistro, delivering high quality service to customers, as well as providing on the job training, assessing and mentoring to learners.
Successful applicants should have demonstrable experience of running successful restaurants with a key focus on food and beverage knowledge, seasonality and customer satisfaction. They will have extensive knowledge of the industry and be able to drive the business forward meeting and exceeding agreed income targets and levels of service.
