Maintenance Electrician (x 2 posts)

Full Time, 37 hours per week. Permanent

Sunderland College is seeking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated individual to work as part of a busy Estates Team who are responsible four campuses in Sunderland, plus a fifth campus in Hartlepool.

We are looking for people with the right attributes and attitude necessary to manage and maintain complex electrical systems.

You will be flexible and customer focussed with excellent communication skills backed up with a good understanding of IT. Applicants should have at least 2 years post apprenticeship experience.

In addition, the successful applicant must be suitably qualified to NVQ Level 3 in an appropriate electrical discipline and hold both the 17th Edition and 2391 Test Application qualifications. For this post applicants should be able to demonstrate in their personal statement practical examples of how they fulfil the person specification.

Data Team Leader

Full Time, 37 Hours per week. Permanent

Sunderland College is seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Data Officer to actively lead the college’s Data Processing Team.

Sunderland College is a large Further Education college catering for around 15,000 learners including 16-18 year old sixth form students, Adults, Apprentices and Higher Education learners. The college operates across four campuses in Sunderland, plus a fifth in Hartlepool. The successful candidate will be primarily based at the Bede Campus within Sunderland, but will need to work at the other locations as required.

The Data Processing Team carry responsibility for the accurate and timely input of all student and apprenticeship related records including enrolment, timetables, attendance and completion. The Data Team Leader will have a good understanding of Further Education Funding for Young People, Adults, Apprentices and Higher Education and will be able to ensure that source data capture results in ILR compliant data outputs. Some knowledge of ILR requirements would, therefore, be an advantage.

The successful applicant will be well motivated, proactive, able to work to deadlines and have a good eye for detail whilst also having the excellent communication skills, the ability to motivate others and the ability to organise the work of the team.

An awareness of safeguarding and PREVENT is desirable but training will be provided on this.

Funding and Compliance Manager

Full Time, 37 hours per week. Permanent

Sunderland College is seeking to appoint a Funding and Compliance Manager to lead and co-ordinate the preparation and timely submission of valid and accurate data returns to funding bodies. The post holder will also take a lead role in the development and maintenance of robust controls and procedures with the purpose of ensuring compliance with audit requirements, compliance with the contract requirements of funding agencies and compliance with internal college policies and procedures.

Sunderland College is a large Further Education college catering for around 15,000 learners including 16-18 year old sixth form students, Adults, Apprentices and Higher Education learners. The college operates across four campuses in Sunderland, plus a fifth in Hartlepool. The successful candidate will be primarily based at the Bede Campus within Sunderland, but will need to work at the other locations as required.

The successful candidate will have a very good working knowledge of the Funding Rules and Regulations that apply to 16-18 year olds, Adults, Apprenticeships and Higher Education learners. Alongside knowledge of these regulations, the post holder will be familiar with ILR specifications and operation including the use of related software such as FIS and PDSATs.

Good communication skills are essential as is the ability work to deadlines, solve complex problems, maintain high levels of accuracy and have a customer focused approach to colleagues throughout the organisation.

The Funding and Compliance Manager will also take a lead role in managing the process of External Funding Audit and is, therefore, essential that the candidate has experience in this area of work.

Lecturer 2 NextGen Games, Animation & VFX (3D Modelling)

An opportunity has arisen for a passionate, suitably experienced, professional to teach on our thriving NextGen Games, Animation & VFX course.

We are seeking to further strengthen our team with a highly creative and enthusiastic 3D Art (Maya) specialist with the skills and experience required to ensure our learners are industry ready with the right skills and knowledge for the workplace. The successful candidate will be an outstanding practitioner, with relevant vocational competence in using Autodesk Maya to produce 3D Art for Games, Animation or VFX. They’ll possess the ability to deliver high quality classes, with high expectations, that enthuse and inspire learners to achieve the best possible outcomes and best prepare learners for a career in the Games, Animation or VFX industries.

This post offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work in our state of the art ‘Arts Academy’, at the Bede Campus, and at Hartlepool Sixth Form College, within our specialist NextGen studios, and be a part of a successful team, supporting outstanding achievement across our Digital provision.

Applicants will have industry experience, preferably in a studio environment, and could be new to teaching or have a proven track record in education. Applicants must be willing to achieve a teaching qualification within three years, if not already held. Applicants should be able to demonstrate relevant experience in their personal statement, giving practical examples of how they fulfil the person specification. Applicants will also be expected to bring along examples of their work to interview, and deliver a short lesson to a group of learners.
