BTEC Performing Arts

Course Content

We offer a range of level 3 BTEC options which include a range of different sized BTEC qualifications including an Extended Certificate and a foundation diploma. You will be able to opt into either a general Performing Arts Course or one that focuses on a chosen performance skill in either Dance or Acting. (see below for course details)

This is a two-year modular course that involves a combination of mandatory units plus some optional units. At the end of year one you will gain a qualification worth the same as one or one and a half A levels. At the end of year two you will gain a qualification worth the same as one two or three A levels. There is both theory and practical study involved in the course.

During the course you will take part in practical activities in the studio and in the theatre. You will also work with professional artists in workshop situations and take part in trips to industry.

Assessment

Your assessment is spread throughout the whole year and could involve live performance, written assignments, presentations, practical assessment and witness statements. There are no exams!

Progression

This course will enable you to progress to a higher education foundation degree at university or drama school. You may also choose to enter a specialist area of employment within the performing arts industry. It is possible to take a resit a GCSE or take up an AS alongside this course.
